2009 Auditions
So You Want to March Juxta??

That's great! We'd love to have you join us for the 2009 season.

Now that you've taken the first step in pursuing your interest to march Juxtaposition, I'm sure you have lots of questions.

What is Juxtaposition?

Juxtaposition is an Independent Winter Color Guard. It is also a non-profit youth organization. Juxtaposition is based in Westerville, Ohio.
Juxtaposition is dedicated to the education and development of its members and strives to further their development not only as performers, but as individuals.

What does it mean to be an Independent Winter Guard?

Independent color guards compete separately from scholastic groups. In the Independent class there can be a
wide range of ages, and members may come from a variety of locations. Typically, Independent guards do not have an affiliation with a
scholastic group; however, we are in conjunction with Westerville High School.  Juxtaposition members range in age from 16-22yrs old. Although we do have high school aged members, we DO NOT actively recruit high school students.

How Often Does Juxta Practice?

Juxta rehearses on weekends, not during the week. Practice for each weekend varies.
More information regarding rehearsals can be found on our website.

Can I be in school or work and still do Juxta?

ABSOLUTELY! Almost all of our members are full time students or have full/part time jobs. Many of them do both!
Take your schedule in and talk to your boss about your schedule, and you will find that most of the time,
things can be worked out. If you find that there is just one day that cannot be worked out, you need to speak with us
about it and we will see what can be worked out. Unlike
most Independent Guards, we are concerned that you have time to do your schoolwork.
We do everything on our end to make sure that you have that time, but that means you have to plan and do your part also.
If you know you have practice or a show weekend, then get your work done before you come. We have had lots of college and high school
students march here who have had no problems in marching guard, going to school, and working during the season.
The bottom line is - be prepared and manage your time wisely. You will be happy and so will we.

Is it Expensive to march Juxta?

Juxtaposition is one of the more inexpensive winter guards. Fees each season are approximately $600.
That may seem like a lot, but that covers your equipment use, uniforms, gloves, some travel expenses, and unlike many independent groups ---
most of the food you consume on weekends. Juxta also has many fund raisers for you to participate in to help reduce the cost of your fees.

Hopefully you have found this helpful and some of your questions have been answered.

We look forward to seeing you at the audition for 2009 color guard.
